I already went to Hui Kau Laam, the Lahu village where we work and had a great Christmas celebration with people coming from four villages to spend the day at our community center. Another one was planed for the 26th. But now I got sick with a stomach flu and I decided to let my co-workers do the honors. Now is family time and we are enjoying it fully 🙂
We use the UBC true vision to get tv to our house. We have done so for years because there is no good alternative. Sure I am not really happy with the all of their service. Especially that UBC loves to move channels around, charge more money then Swiss providers would dare and the latest, that the UBC true vision office in Chiang Mai has suddenly disappeared.
Yesterday I wanted to go and pay the bill and the office was gone. With it also Siam TV a big shop for electronics that managed the Chiang Mai office was gone to. No notice where they moved or a letter to their subscribers.
This morning I phoned UBC true vision in Bangkok about my billing status. I haven't received a bill even though someone from true vision phoned me a month ago and said they would do so. The friendly guy in the billing department will send me the bill via e-mail. To the question where the true vision office in Chaing Mai moved to he answered that they haven't received the new address yet. Living in Thailand still an adventure after 11 years 🙂
Wie die täglichen Gewitter in Chiang Mai in den letzten Tagen hat sich der rote Sturm über dem Land vorerst gelegt. Die Demonstrationen sind vorüber. Ich denke das ihr die Bilder und Berichte im Fernsehen gesehen habt. Was politisch hier abläuft ist nicht einfach zu erklären und hat eine lange Geschichte. Ich bin auch kein Analytiker der Thailändischen Politik. Daher möchte ich auch keine eigene Meinung verbreiten.
Es ist wieder einmal der letzte Freitag im Monat und wieder werden wir, die Intinerants im UN Irish Pub Irische Folksmusik zum besten geben. Ich sehe das zwei Posts weiter unten ich ja schon darüber geschrieben habe. Nun ich freue mich riesig. Es ist einer der wenigen Abende wo ich mal raus kann und stundenlang auf meiner Gitarre rumhämmere und mir die Finger wundspiele. Tut der Seele gut und macht unheimlich viel Spass. Wir spielen unter den bekannten Irischen songs auch andere Folksongs. Da kommt das ganze Fingerpickingarsenal zum Zug.
Heute Morgen bin ich as dem Haus und musste feststellen das die jährliche Smog-Glocke über Chiang Mai gestülpt wurde. Man könnte meinen es wäre Hochnebel. Leider gibt es da nichts zu lachen, da es ganz schön gesundheitsschädigend ist. Die Staubpartikel (PM-10) messen nach Bangkok Post in Chiang Mai 129 ug (microgram)/cu m. Hier ist die Webpage der PCD (Pollution Control Department) Dort könnt ihr die täglichen Messwerte selber ablesen. Das Tagesmittel sollte nicht über 50 ug/cu m gehen.
